We came in and covered everything that was not going to be painted (floors, adjacent walls, etc.) After we finished covering, we started doing some light sanding to remove the polyurethane that is on the cabinets and all areas to be painted. Once we were done with the sanding, we sprayed a lacquer undercoat to insure that the final coat would adhere. Once the undercoat was in place we finished off with lacquer.
