Choosing the right type of paint for your home can be overwhelming. We are here to walk you through all of the options so you can feel confident going into your painting project!

A good rule of thumb when choosing paint sheens is the higher the shine, the more durable it will be. High Gloss is the most durable and easiest to clean. This is a great option for window trim and doors that you want to be able to wipe down with ease. It is not typically recommended for interior walls because the shine is very high.

Semi-Gloss is a good choice for baseboards and high moisture and greasy areas like kitchens and bathrooms. This high durability sheen will be easy to maintain.

Another strong sheen is satin. This is perfect for high traffic areas such as living rooms, hallways, and kid’s bedrooms. It will be simple to clean while not being too shiny for your home’s interior.

If you are looking for a flat finish that still covers wall imperfections and has medium durability, Eggshell is the best choice for you. This sheen works well in dining rooms and living rooms that don’t get a lot of bumps and scuffs.

Flat or Matte paint has the most coverage of all the options; however, it is not very durable or easy to clean. It might not be ideal for homes with kids unless you plan to maintain it with touch ups a few times a year. This would be a good application for adults’ bedrooms and other low traffic areas.
